Device, App & Version

  • Device: MacBook Pro (M3)
  • Applications: Desktop App and Web App
  • Versions: All applications are updated to the latest versions

Steps to Reproduce

This issue has only occurred once and cannot be reliably reproduced. However, here is the sequence of events leading up to the error:

  1. Creating and Organizing Cards:

    • I was writing and creating cards within a Parent located in the Home section, with the parent open in the noteboard.
    • The hierarchy extended down to grand-grand-children.
  2. Identifying and Rearranging Out-of-Place Cards:

    • After approximately three hours of writing, I noticed in the Outline that three cards were out of place.
    • I used drag-and-drop to rearrange the cards, which included a couple of repetitions due to two mistakes.
  3. Cutting Incorrect Connections:

    • I “cut” the wrong connections—half from edit mode and half from the outline—resulting in a total of six connections being removed.
  4. Encountering the Untitled Card:

    • Upon reopening the Parent in the noteboard, I noticed an untitled card.
    • This card was left untitled as a temporary note containing three lines and one link to another card, intended to prevent getting lost while adjusting connections.
  5. Triggering the Fatal Error:

    • When I clicked on the untitled note to review my annotations, the fatal error appeared.
    • Attempts to access the note from any location result in the same error.
  6. Troubleshooting Attempts:

    • I tried logging out and using a fresh browser window (Arc browser), but the error persists.
    • Regardless of the path taken to access the card, the error remains unchanged.

For a while, the card has reappeared after logging in, but clicking on it triggers a dialog box displaying the error with two options: Back or Logout. Now the dialog is permanent.

Additional Information

  • Card Content:

    • All cards within this parent contain only markdown text—no code, HTML, images, or other decorations.
    • They adhere to the soft limit for content.
  • Link Details:

    • The link in the problematic card was created using the link +new command a few hours prior.
  • Open Applications During Incident:

    • Arc Browser: Two tabs were monitoring cloud applications exchanging JSON payloads to reproduce an error in a data structure that becomes corrupted.
    • TextEdit, SN, Preview: These applications were open but not actively interacting with the issue.
  • System Activity:

    • No other significant processes were running on my computer at the time.
    • There is no direct relation to SN, except for the coincidence of encountering a corrupted note while debugging a similar issue.
